Seamless integration of two environments
The platform consists of a corporate environment and the storytelling environment which we seamlessly integrated with each other. This allows us to create links between every type of content available: a 3D annex, a timeline or the theme prejudice to find and order an educational program or buy a museumticket.
Design Premise
Anne Franks diary provided the inspiration to make red a primary colour and make use of transparency. Anne’s handwriting gave us the idea to use pastel colours and diagonal lines. The extensive use of black and white (sepia) photography enriches the historical feeling of the platform.
I nearly fainted with fear that this stranger would be able to discover our beautiful hiding place.” Anne Frank, 20 October 1943
Enter the Secret Annex
Walk around the Secret Annex looking exactly like it did as when Anne was hiding here. Find remarkable items as you ‘walk’ around the Annex. Why are there binoculairs on the sill? Watch the video and find out Anne was watching the neighbours in the evening to pass the time.
The diary
If you think about Anne, you’ll think of her dairy. The site also teaches about her letters, other writings and Kitty who Anne directed all her stories to.
The entire house is full of arguments. Mommy and me, daddy, mommy and madam, everyone is angry at each other. Nice atmosphere, right?” Anne Frank, 27 April 1943
Current Day Anne
Prejudice, discrimination and anti-Semitism are of all times, but you can do something about it. Young people in particular can learn from history. DOOR has introduced a new format on the site, in which you are challenged to think about these themes with videos, frequently asked questions and personal stories from young people.
As long as this exists and I’m allowed to live it, this sunshine, this heaven that has no cloud, I’m not allowed to be sad.” Anne Frank, 17 February 1944
